The Daily Huddle
Howdy, folks! Walter here, reporting from the frontlines of creativity and caffeine addiction. Yesterday evening, a wild idea wriggled its way into my brain: “Can I convert my daily posts into a podcast?” Imagine that—me, chatting away in your ears, spreading wisdom, humor, and the occasional accidental genius.
So, I took the plunge. Started at 9pm, went to bed at 1am so 4 hours, and by the end, I had two episodes live on Spotify. Quite a feat, eh? It’s like turning water into wine, except the wine is my voice, and the water is… well, still my voice, but in written form. Already got 14 listens, which is more than the number of plants I’ve successfully kept alive.
I decided to use Substack podcast engine, super simple to setup. A few royalty free sounds effect and music. Modified the script a bit, did the audio part and used garage band to duct tape it all together - holds so far. Uploaded the two episodes to Substack and connected Spotify, Apple Podcast and Pocket Cast (never heard of them before). Apparently, Apple Podcast does most of the distribution to other podcast platforms - let’s see how it goes. Pretty straight forward though.
Now, it’s just me behind this operation—no team of 10+ pros making me sound like Morgan Freeman’s lovechild. So, if you could spare a moment to rate it five stars, I’d be over the moon. Every bit of support helps, and hey, if you don’t like it, lie to me—I thrive on positivity!
The downside? Only getting four hours of sleep. I felt like I’d been hit by a freight train. I’m no spring chicken anymore; more like a seasoned hen who’s seen better days. But that’s the startup mindset, right? You try, you iterate, you fail, you iterate again, until something clicks. Speaking of which, a big shoutout to self-doubt! You’re always there, like an unwanted houseguest who never knows when to leave. But hey, if you’re reading this, even if it’s just out of mild curiosity, you care. And that means the world to me.
Sifting Through the Scraps:
On to the next chapter in the saga of separation. The Mother wanted ask a friend to provide the financial separation paperwork, but so far, radio silence. Also, I don’t know if that is a good idea. It’s like waiting for a text from a crush that never comes. I just want to move on and be the best dad I can be. I’ll ping her, and if she drags her feet, my lawyer will step in. She said we’d keep what’s ours—sounds good, but I’ll believe it when the ink’s dry.
Lessons from the Trenches:
In more uplifting news, Amazon delivered John Wooden’s “Pyramid of Success.” His idea of cooperation, the next building block, is club first, team second, individual last. This is pure gold. He insists that 1 + 1 can equal more than 2 when you have a well-oiled team. Trust, loyalty, and accountability are the keys. It’s not always about the superstar—remember Jamie Tartt or Zava from Richmond? Great players, but not always team players. Building a diverse team is crucial, and I’ve spent a lot of time making sure mine (business team) has what it needs.
So here I am, a podcaster and a team player, trying new things and iterating until they work. Onward and upward, folks!
Stay gold,
Walter
